We were in the swing of things, the lights were blazing, eyes were staring and music blaring. It was another cold night at Totara Springs, but this night was different - the GYM was full of tired but cheerful sport teams full of expectation. It was the night of the Cheer Dances. I almost had a shiver run through me as Phil announced that we were up next, it was not shivering because of the cold breeze blowing through the big open doors but because I was nervous. I was really nervous, I was actually trembling. I knew all the moves but I was doubting myself once I got into the glare of the massive lights and in the line of sight of the massive crowd. But this was soon all forgotten; I was now in the mood and enjoying it - every point, clap and foot movement. As the music faded and our heart rates fell it came to the end. I think we all wanted to stay up there a little longer, but we all did our best and we gave it our all.
